A Prayer to Mary to Crush the Serpent (video)
If the serpent’s defeat was promised on the first pages of Scripture, why does he still seem so busy?
He has been at work since the Garden. Same lies, same snares, same targets: the children of Eve. But the promise named a woman.
This prayer, attributed to Pope St. Pius X around the 1904 jubilee of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, goes straight back to Genesis and the promise that the ancient enemy would not have the last word. Mary, immaculate from the first instant of her conception, was never in his grasp. The victory belongs to her Son, and she shares in it as a Mother who stands with her children.
She crushed the serpent’s head, and she has never stopped being a Mother to those he still hunts.
