Novena to St. Dymphna

May 06-14, 2026

Are you or someone you love struggling with anxiety, depression, mental illness, or emotional suffering? Meet St. Dymphna — a young Irish martyr and one of the Catholic Church’s most beloved patron saints for all who carry the heavy burdens of the mind and soul. 🙏🕊️

Born a princess in 7th century Ireland, she fled her homeland to escape the threatening pursuit of her pagan father, ultimately settling in Belgium, where she was tragically martyred for refusing to renounce her faith and her vow of chastity.

Through the centuries, countless miraculous cures of those suffering from mental and nervous disorders have been reported through her intercession, leading the Church to recognize her as the patron saint of those suffering from mental illness, anxiety, depression, and neurological conditions — a title that carries profound compassion and hope for so many in our modern world.

St. Dymphna continues to be a powerful intercessor for all who struggle with the burdens of the mind and soul, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, God’s healing grace is never far away.

The feast day of St. Dymphna is Friday, May 15th.
