The Guardian Angel Novena is a devotion of thanksgiving and petition to one’s guardian angel, who God assigns to us at the moment of our conception to be our guide, protector, and shepherd. As it is a novena, it is intended to be prayed for over nine (9) consecutive days for a special petition and favor.

The Novena to St. Joan of Arc, traditionally prayed from May 21st to May 29th, the eve of her feast day, honors one of the Church’s most courageous saints. Known as the Maid of Orléans, St. Joan answered God’s call with unwavering faith, even at the cost of her life.

St. Joan of Arc was a young French peasant girl who heard the voice of God at the age of thirteen and followed it without hesitation — even to the point of death. Captured, tried, and condemned by a politically driven tribunal, she refused to deny the divine mission God had entrusted to her. She was burned at the stake in 1431 at the age of nineteen. Twenty-five years later her conviction was completely overturned and declared unjust. She was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.

Yet through it all, she united her sufferings to Christ with heroic faith, and even received a wound on her forehead in union with His crown of thorns.

Canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1900, St. Rita has interceded for countless souls in desperate circumstances. Her feast day, celebrated on May 22nd, is the perfect occasion to turn to her with the burdens that feel too heavy and the petitions that seem beyond all hope.

Our Lady of Fatima appeared six times between May and October of 1917 to three young shepherd children — Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto — in the small village of Fatima, Portugal, delivering one of the most urgent and consequential messages in the history of Marian apparitions.

During these visits, Our Lady called the world to prayer, penance, and the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, revealed three secrets of profound prophetic significance, and requested the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

The apparitions culminated on October 13, 1917, with the breathtaking Miracle of the Sun — witnessed by an estimated 70,000 people — in which the sun appeared to dance and plunge toward the earth before returning to its place in the sky.

The Church formally approved the apparitions in 1930, and Fatima has since become one of the greatest Marian shrines in the world, drawing millions of pilgrims each year who come to pray, do penance, and heed Our Lady’s timeless call to conversion and consecration to her Immaculate Heart.
