The Novena to the Immaculate Heart is a devotion to the heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is honored as a symbol of her maternal love, virtue, and sorrows. The devotion arose out of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917, where the Virgin Mary asked for prayers for the conversion of sinners and an end to war.
