Novena to the Souls in Purgatory

Novena begins this Saturday, October 24, 2026

The Novena for the Souls in Purgatory is a sacred devotion for the faithful departed prayed over the nine days leading up to All Souls’ Day (November 2). Those souls cannot help themselves, but we can help them, asking God to complete their purification and welcome them into His presence.

The Church has prayed for her departed since ancient times, and this devotion is a reminder that death does not break the bond between the living and the deceased.

Praying for the faithful departed is a work of mercy we share as one Church, and this novena is offered for every soul in Purgatory, known and unknown.
