The Infant of Prague devotion centers on a statue of the child Jesus given to the Carmelite church in Prague in 1628. After the statue was damaged and neglected during the Thirty Years’ War, Father Cyril, a Carmelite priest, felt called to restore it in the late 1630s.
During prayer before the broken statue, he reported hearing the words, “Have pity on me and I will have pity on you. Give me my hands and I will give you peace.” After the statue was restored, numerous miracles were attributed to the Infant’s intercession, establishing this devotion as a source of divine help, particularly for those seeking assistance with practical necessities.
