Announcing: “Novena to Santo Niño” — January 09-17

Novena to Santo Niño

January 09-17, 2026

The Santo Niño, meaning “Holy Child” in Spanish, is a beloved devotion honoring the Child Jesus. Venerated as a powerful intercessor for families, children, the sick, and all who seek the gentle mercy of Our Lord, this devotion holds a special place in Catholic tradition, particularly in the Philippines and throughout Latin America, where it has inspired deep faith and countless miracles for over 500 years.

The most famous image is the Santo Niño de Cebú, a statue of the Child Jesus given by Ferdinand Magellan to Queen Juana of Cebu upon her baptism in 1521. Miraculously preserved through fire and war, it remains the oldest Christian relic in the Philippines.

The Feast of Santo Niño is celebrated on the third Sunday of January. Through this devotion, the faithful are reminded of Christ’s humility in becoming a child and His invitation to approach Him with childlike trust and simplicity.
