The Novena to Padre Pio asks for the prayers and intercession of St. Padre Pio, whose mystical gifts, devotion to the Eucharist, tireless ministry, and obedience to ecclesial authority made him an exemplary priest and a saint in the Catholic Church. Even in Heaven, he continues his ministry of obtaining healing & miracles.
St. Padre Pio, born Francesco Forgione in 1887 in Pietrelcina, Italy, was a Capuchin Franciscan friar renowned for bearing the stigmata, the wounds of Christ’s Passion, for over fifty years. He devoted his life to prayer, penance, and the confessional, often spending many hours a day hearing confessions and guiding souls toward conversion. Canonized in 2002, St. Padre Pio is beloved for his humility, his mystical gifts, and his enduring exhortation to “pray, hope, and do not worry.”
